The 7 Ah to 9 Ah UPS battery upgrade
Do 12V 7Ah and 12V 9Ah batteries share a case?
Usually, yes. The CSB GP1272F2 and HR1234WF2 are both 151 x 65 x 94 mm with the same 99 mm overall height and F2 tabs. Not every brand matches to the millimeter, so compare the listing against your old cell, and remember that smaller 6 Ah slim cells are a different format.
| Cell | Capacity | L x W x H case | Overall height | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CSB GP1272F2 | 8 Ah | 151 x 65 x 94 mm | 99 mm | T2 batterystore.com |
| CSB HR1234WF2 | 9 Ah | 151 x 65 x 94 mm | 99 mm | T2 batterystore.com |
CSB now rates the GP1272F2 at 8 Ah at the 20-hour rate. CyberPower's 7 Ah packs use this case size.
How much extra runtime does 9Ah give?
Rated capacity rises 28.6%, from 7 Ah to 9 Ah. At 300 W on a CP1350PFCLCD, our calibrated estimate goes from 13 min to 17 min, or 21 min with a high-rate cell. The gain holds at most loads, though the charger takes proportionally longer to refill the pack.
Which UPS models can take the upgrade?
On this site, the CP1350PFCLCD with a CXY or CX5 serial, the BR1000MS and the SMART1500LCD are candidates, because they use 7 Ah class cells in the standard case. The CP1350PFCLCD with a CQB or CR8 serial uses 90 mm cube cells, so a 151 mm brick will not fit.
